Charles "Chuck" Hegtvedt

Charles "Chuck" Hegtvedt, 83, of Lakewood, Wash., and formerly of Decorah, died June 10, 2001 in Lakewood.

Memorial services were held Wednesday, June 13 at 2 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, with a gathering at Oakbrook Golf and Country Club following.

Charles L. "Chuck" Hegtvedt was born in Decorah in 1918.

He earned his bachelor of arts degree from Luther College and a master's degree in business administration from Columbia University.

He served with the U.S. Army in World War II and the Korean Conflict, and continued in the reserves, retiring as a Lt. Colonel.

During his career, Charles Hegtvedt held various marketing positions with Standard Oil, Soule Steele and Crown Zellerbach.

Charles Hegtvedt retired as a marketing consultant with Weyerhaeuser Company in 1982.

He was past president of the Puget Sound and San Francisco chapters of the American Marketing Association.

Among his many associations, Charles Hegtvedt was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and the Oakbrook Golf and Country Club, where he was an enthusiastic golfer and involved member.

He loved his poker group, golfing with his good friends and the "board meeting" he arranged for lunch on Saturdays,

In addition, he always looked forward to his winter respite in Hawaii.

Survivors include his wife, Orietta Hegtvedt of Lakewood; his daughters, Kathryn Hegtvedt-Wilson and Greg Wilson of Chehalis and Karen Hegtvedt and Patrick Finn of Atlanta, Ga., three grandsons and one granddaughter.

Charles L. "Chuck" Hegtvedt was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Mead Hegtvedt in 1980.
