Leonard Elsner

SFC Leonard Elsner, Jr., USAR, 60, of Fort Wayne, Indiana and formerly of DECORAH, died May 27, 2001 at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne.

Funeral services were held Friday, June 1 at 11 a.m. at D. O. McComb and Sons Foster Park Funeral Home.

Burial with military graveside services was held at Marion National Cemetery in Marion, Indiana.

Leonard Elsner was a San Antonio, Texas native who retired in 1997 after 34 years in the U.S. Army as a motor sergeant first class.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 499 and enjoyed gardening.

He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Elsner; five children: Katherine Elsner of Cresco; Leonard III and Brendan Elsner, both of Waukon; Phillip Elsner of Fort Wayne; Thomas and Ronald Elsner, both at home; a sister, Teresa Breacriat of San Antonio; four brothers: Robert and Patrick, both of San Antonio and Michael and Christian, both of Houston, Texas and four grandchildren.

SFL Leonard A. Elsner, Jr., USAR was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard, Sr. and Joann Elsner.
