Clarence Webber

Editor's Note: Decorah Newspapers recently received the following obituary.

Clarence Webber, 87, of Osh Kosh, Wis., died Oct. 10, 2000 in Osh Kosh.

Clarence Webber was born Sept. 30, 1913 in Wis.

He married Marjorie "Minnie" Bender on the present Vernon Bender farm in rural Decorah. Throughout their married life they took yearly extended vacations in the Decorah area, where Clarence Webber enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Clarence Webber was a machinist for A.O. Smith Corp. of Milwaukee, Wis., for 40 years.

He had served in World War II with distinction in the last regiment of the U.S. Calvery.

He was a nationally recognized pool champion.

Clarence Webber was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Nekimma, Wis.

Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Vernon Bender of rural Decorah and Mrs. Arlin Falck of Decorah; four nieces: Mrs. Audrey Smock of Cornado, Calif.; Mrs. James Anderson of Decorah; Ms. Marlys Rooney of Cedar Rapids and Carol Nicol of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada; six nephews: Vernon Tompson of Cedar Rapids; Robert Tompson of Waterloo; Charles Tompson of Madison, Wis.; Curtis Tompson of Sioux Falls, S.D.; James Falck of Decorah and Jerry Falck of Decorah.

Clarence Webber was preceded in death by his wife Marjorie Webber, who died Jan. 27, 1979.
