Rita Borden

Rita Borden, 65, of Marquette, Iowa, died Friday, May 11, 2001 at the Aase Haugen Home in DECORAH, following a short illness.

Memorial services were held Monday, May 14 at 11 a.m. at the French and Balik Funeral Home in DECORAH, with Rev. Tom Miller officiating.

Organist was Rev. Marion Miller. Interment was in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in McGregor. French and Balik Funeral Home of DECORAH handled arrangements.

Rita B. Borden was born Sept. 29, 1935 in Hanover Township, near Waukon, to Peter and Isabelle (Jensen) Gilgenbach.

She graduated from Marquette High School in 1953.

On May 25, 1957 she married John Borden in Caledonia, Minn.

Rita Borden had worked at McGregor Electronics and was head cook at the Pink Elephant, for 20 years.

She enjoyed crafts and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, John Borden of Marquette; a daughter, Kari, and Ed Ling of OSSIAN; two grandchildren; one brother, John Gilgenbach of Kirksville, Mo., and one sister, Dorothy Fitzgerald of Marquette.

Rita B. Borden was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Mike and Ron Gilgenbach and four sisters, Rosie Schobert, Viola Meana, Ruth Howard and Karen Minch.
