Geraldine V. Lewis
Geraldine Lewis, 75, of Lime Springs, died Friday, May 11, 2001 at her home.
A VFW auxiliary service was held at Lindstrom Funeral Home at 7 p.m. Sunday, May 13, and funeral services were held Monday, May 14 at the United Methodist Church in Cresco with Rev. Lewis Flanigan officiating.
Burial was in the Oak Lawn Cemetery. Lindstrom Funeral Home of Cresco handled arrangements.
Geraldine V. Lewis was born Oct. 16, 1924 in Sumner Township, rural Ridgeway, Winneshiek County, the daughter of Peter and Mable (Fjelstul) Anderson.
She was baptized and confirmed at Lincoln Lutheran Church in Ridgeway, and graduated from Ridgeway High School in 1943.
Geraldine Lewis worked as a telephone operator at the telephone office in Ridgeway for 10 years.
She was united in marriage to Myron Haugen of Saude June 18, 1946. Two children were born to this union, Maynard Haugen and Vernelle Nicoll. Myron Haugen died Feb. 14, 1952.
On Nov. 27, 1962, she married Eugene Lewis of Kendallville.
They lived on a farm north of Kendallville for 30 years. A son, Randy Lewis, was born Dec. 14, 1963.
Geraldine Lewis was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and. the American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband, Eugene Lewis of Lime Springs; a son, Maynard Haugen of Cleveland, Texas; a daughter, Vernelle and Bill Nicoll of Chester and a son Randy and Darrelleen Lewis of Lime Springs; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Geraldine V. Lewis was preceded in death by her first husband, Myron Haugen and three sisters, Harriet as an infant, Edrie Fretheim and Aldyce Weidow.
