Esther Amanda Kruse

Esther Kruse, 94, of Decorah, died Saturday, May 5, 2001 at the Aase Hauge Home in Decorah.

Funeral services will be held today, Tuesday, May 8, at 10:30 a.m. at Decorah Lutheran Church with Rev.'s James Glesne and Ole Winter officiating.

Casket bearers will be Paul Carlstrom, Todd Carlstrom, Steven Kruse, Bill Steffenson, Tim Steffenson and Larry Thompson.

Organist is Kathy Murray and Marguerite Kruse and Joyce Steffenson will sing duets "It Is No Secret What God Can Do" and "Beautiful Savior".

Honorary casket bearers are Karan Presson, Kimberly Carlstrom, Paul Presson, Laura Carlstrom, Luke Presson and Emily Presson.

Burial will be in Monona City Cemetery in Monona, Iowa. Fjelstul Funeral Home of Decorah handled arrangements.

Esther Amanda Larson was born Nov. 21, 1906 to Martin and Anna (Sorenson) Larson at home in Pleasant Township.

She attended rural schools of Pleasant Township.

She married Byron Kruse Feb. 7, 1936 at her family home. He died Jan. 12, 1988.

The couple farmed for many years south of Monona, and Esther Larson also worked as a homemaker.

They moved to Decorah in 1978.

She was a member of Decorah Lutheran Church, and was involved in Circle and Nordic Fest activities.

Esther loved to garden, crochet and she was a very good cook.

Her special love was her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Esther had been a resident of the Aase Haugen Home since January 1998.

Survivors include one son, David and Marguerite Kruse of New Windsor, Illinois; two brothers, Leon and Rose Marie Larson of Rochester, Minn.
and Merton and Beverly Larson of Lakeland, Fla.; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and three sisters, Gladys Gavie, Etta Otteson and Arlene (Ray) Thompson, all of Decorah.

Esther Amanda Larson Kruse was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, Lloyd, Selmer and Arthur Larson and three sisters, Myrtle Priebe, Violet Ramsey and Madeline Priebe.
