Callen D. "Cal" Carson

Callen Carson, 45, of Mt. Pleasant died suddenly Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2001 at the Henry County Health Center.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Feb. 18 at 2 p.m. in the lower level of the First United Methodist Church of Mt. Pleasant with Dr. Ed Peterson officiating.

Burial was in Green Mound Cemetery, west of Trenton, with Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel of Mt. Pleasant handling arrangements.

Callen D. "Cal" Carson was born June 7, 1955 in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of H. Duane and Ethel (Heicke) Carson.

He lived the first four year of his life in Leeds, Iowa, and then moved to Algona, Iowa, where he graduated from Algona High School in 1973.

Callen Carson graduated from Luther College, in DECORAH, in 1977.

Following graduation, he moved to Mt. Pleasant and served as executive vice president of the Chamber of Commerce for three years.

Since that time, he had been employed at Blue Bird Midwest in various positions, holding the title of sales department manager for the past several years.

Callen Carson married Patty Ross on May 15, 1982.

He was a member of the Alpha Epsilon Pi Fraternity, and served as chairman of both the Mt. Pleasant Airport Board and Staff Parish Relations Committee of the First United Methodist Church, where he was a member.

Callen Carson had been involved with the Jaycess and active in Junior Achievement. He was a past board member of the Shining Trail Council of Girl Scouts, a member of the Mt. Pleasant Chamber of Commerce.

For several years he had served on the committee for Fun Day held at the Mt. Pleasant Golf and Country Club, and was an avid Hawkeye fan.

Survivors include his wife; two children, Katie and Tim, both at home; one brother, Craig Carson of DECORAH; two sisters, Chris Welch of Des Moines and Judy Lambert of Manasass, Va.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Callen D. "Cal" Carson was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
