Marie Catherine Rindels

Marie Catherine Rindels, 77, of Spring Valley, Minn., died at her home Thursday, July 6, 2000.

Funeral services were held Sunday, July 9, at 2 p.m., at the Assembly of God Church in Spring Valley, Minn with her son-in-law, the Rev. Gary Nelson, officiating.

Burial was at the Greenleafton Cemetery in Greenleafton, Minn. The Hindt-Hutchins Funeral Home in Spring Valley, Minn., handled arrangements.

Marie was born March 29, 1923, the daughter of Julius and Anna Flaskerud.

She attended and graduated from CALMAR High School. She then attended Gates Business College in Waterloo, later working for an attorney in Monona, followed by a job with a Lutheran Church in DECORAH.

She was united in marriage to Earl Hegtvedt in November of 1944 in Cresco. They were later divorced. Marie was remarried to Richard Rindels Oct. 28, 1967, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Spring Valley. Marie was a homemaker and also worked as a nursing assistant for Aase Haugen Home in DECORAH and Community Memorial Hospital in Spring Valley. She was a Hospice volunteer and also was a volunteer for the school.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Spring Valley, where she was very active in church functions.

Marie was & good cook and hostess. She enjoyed fishing, traveling and doing crafts, but her main interest was always her family.

Survivors include her husband, Richard of Spring Valley, Minn.; daughter Julie and Roger Kolsrud of Lanesboro, Minn.; two sons, Edwin and Jean Hegtvedt of Charles City, and Donald and Linda Hegtvedt of Cedar Falls; daughters Earlene and Gary Nelson of Chattahoochee, Fla., and Mary and William Allen of Minneapolis, Minn.; and step-children Robert Rindels of Minneapolis; Sheryl and James Alberts of Fairbanks, Paul and Coleen Rindels of Altura, LeRoy and Kathy Rindels of Locust, and Nancy and William Arndt of Stewartville, Minn.

Also surviving are 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; 14 step-grandchildren and 12 step-great grandchildren; three brothers, Erick and Ann Flaskerud of Decorah, Laurence and Eileen Flaskerud of Arizona and Herman and Carolyn Flaskerud of Decorah; and one sister, Dorothy and Orville Halverson of DECORAH.

Marie Rindels was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Bradley; one brother, Julius; and one stepson, Gene.
