Lettie Stockman

Lettie Stockman, 75, of Calmar and formerly of Hawkeye, died Monday, Jan. 3, 2000, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, Wis., following a short illness.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 6, at 11 a.m., at Hawkeye United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Roger White officiating.

Annette Walter will be the organist. Jessica Bucheit will be the soloist. Songs will include "Ave Marie," 'in the Garden," "On Eagle's Wings" and "How Great Thou Art."

Casket bearers will be Chad Poshusta, Michael Schissel, Wayne Moss, Jerome Moss, Steven Poshusta and Martin Timp.

Honorary bearers will be Randy Stockman, Frank Stockman, Wayne Stockman and Brian Stockman.

Burial will be at the Hawkeye Cemetery in Hawkeye. The French & Balik Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Lettie (Munson) Stockman was born July 1, 1924, the daughter of Clyde and Mable (Moore) Munson.

She graduated from Hawkeye High School in 1941.

On Oct. 28, 1944, she married Charles W. Stockman and they made their home in Hawkeye. Lettie worked at the Fayette County Care Facility and the Good Samaritan Home in West Union for over 20 years.

She liked quilting, camping, flowers, birds, fishing and most recently enjoyed surfing the "net." Lettie really enjoyed her grandchildren.

She had lived in CALMAR since October of 1992. Lettie was a member of the Hawkeye United Methodist Church, the Hawkeye American Legion Auxiliary and the Eastern Star.

Survivors include three daughters, Rebecca Schissel of CALMAR, Nancy Poshusta of CALMAR and Gail Moss of West Union; four sons, Randy Stockman of Monona, Wayne Stockman of Winona, Minn., Frank Stockman, of Fayette and Brian Stockman of Stewartville, Minn.; 26 grandchildren; and 14 greatgrandchildren.

Lettie Stockman was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles Stockman, who died in 1992; one son, David in 1970; and one brother, Wayne Munson.
