Beatrice M. Lansing

Beatrice M. Lansing, 96, of New Hampton, died Friday, Jan. 21, 2000, at the New Hampton Nursing Home, where she was a resident for several years.

Funeral services were conducted Monday, Jan. 24, at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. David Bergstrom and the Rev. Carol Christiansen officiating.

Edith Kolthoff was the organist and Pete and Phyllis Willadsen were vocalists.

Casket bearers were Greg Wellik, Jeff Lansing, Tom Lansing, Tom Ellinghuysen, Pat Ellinghuysen and Chris Ellinghuysen.

Interment was in the New Hampton City Cemetery, with the Larkin-Martin-Hugeback Funeral Home handling arrangements.

Beatrice (Holien) Lansing was born Sept. 22, 1903, near OSSIAN, the daughter of Halvor and Sire (Sandvick) Holien. She attended country schools around the OSSIAN and Nordness area.

On Oct. 5, 1925, she was married to Frank Lansing. Shortly after their marriage, the couple moved to New Hampton.

During World War II, Beatrice worked at the former Oliver Tractor Works in Charles City. Later, she worked 27 years at the former Miller Hotel, retiring at the age of 72.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include one daughter, Dorothy Lansing of New Hampton; one son, Victor and Marilyn Lansing of Stewartville, Minn.; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Elsie Gordon of Charles City.

Beatrice Lansing was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank, who died Feb. 24, 1988; six sisters, Ida Gullickson, Hilda Johnson, Martha Holzer, Esther Schroeder, Louise Thompson and Gladys Faber; and six brothers, Seval, Hiller, Rudolph who died in infancy, Orlando, Melvin and Henry Holien.
