George J. Jacobs
George J. Jacobs, 72, died Monday, Sept. 25, 2000, at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, Wis., following a short illness.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday, Sept. 28, at 11 a.m., at St. Luke's Catholic Church in St. Lucas, with the Rev. Marvin Salz officiating.
Lorraine Kuennen was the organist. The St. Luke's choir provided special music. Mass servers were Clarence Kuennen and DeVere Manderfield.
Virginia Manderfield was the lector. Nick Winter was the usher. Gift bearers were Victor and Mary Croatt.
Casket bearers were Bill Croatt, Ron Kruse, Marvin Kriener, Lenny Nolle, Jamie Croatt and Kevin Luzum.
Interment was at the St. Luke's Cemetery in St. Lucas. The Chekal Funeral Home of Fort Atkinson handled arrangements.
George John Jacobs was born March 14, 1928, on the family farm near Fort Atkinson, the son of Frank and Frances (Kruse) Jacobs.
He attended St. Luke's Catholic School in St. Lucas. He farmed the family farm and worked for Paul Kuhn Implement for many years.
He was a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church and the Rosary Society. George enjoyed playing cards.
Survivors include his brother, Joe and Fern Jacobs of Charles City; many nieces and nephews; and close friends Victor and Mary Croatt of Waucoma.
George Jacobs was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Leo Jacobs and wife Dorothy; and one sister, Edna and Jimmy Shindelar.
