H. Kathryn Nelson, 81, died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2000, at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 3, at 10 a.m., at the Nazareth Lutheran Church with interment in the Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls.

The Richardson Funeral Home of Cedar Falls is handling arrangements.

Kathryn (Kittlesby) Creeden Nelson was born Feb. 6, 1919, in CALMAR, the daughter of Sigvart T. and Clara B. (Flaskerud) Kittlesby.

She received her two-year teaching certificate in 1940 from Iowa State Teachers College, now the University of Northern Iowa. She taught elementary school in OSSIAN and Davenport prior to marriage.

On Aug. 31, 1944, Kathryn was married to Dale L. Creeden in CALMAR. He died Sept. 28, 1962.

She then married Paul K. Nelson in August of 1963. He died April 10, 1996.

Kathryn was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church, where she was active in the Sunshine Committee and circles. She also was a member of the Sartori Auxiliary and the Sons of Norway.

Survivors include two sons, William D. and Paul T. Creeden, both of Cedar Falls; step-daughter Mary Ann Portis of Robstown, Texas; two grandchildren, Thomas Dale and Margaret Joy Creeden; four step-grandchildren; and a sister, Evelyn Kittlesby of Cedar Falls.

Kathryn Creeden Nelson was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; step-daughter Connie Moore; and brother Paul Kittlesby.
