Francis Peter Kriener

Francis Peter Kriener, 73, of Fort Atkinson, died Friday, Oct. 15, 1999, at his home near Fort Atkinson after a long illness.

Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 18, at 11 a.m., at St. Luke's Catholic Church in St. Lucas.

The Rev. Raphael Ludwig officiated. Concelebrant was the Rev. Msgr. Leander Reicks.

Music was by Kathy Meyer, organist, and the St. Luke's church choir. Lector was Denise Kriener. Acolytes were Andrew and Willie Schmitt. Cross bearer was Abby Kriener. Ushers were Richard and Martin Kriener.

Casket bearers were Joe, Arlen, Peter, Arnold, Jeremy and Duane Kriener.

Interment was at St. Luke's Catholic Cemetery in St. Lucas. The Chekal Funeral Home of Fort Atkinson handled arrangements.

Francis was born Jan. 2, 1926, near Fort Atkinson, the son of Peter and Mary (Kuennen) Kriener. He attended school in St Lucas.

Francis helped farm with his brothers. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards and visiting.

He was a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church in St. Lucas and of the St. Luke's Court 2100 of the Foresters.

Survivors include two sisters, Anita and Godlove Busta of Fort Atkinson, and Eleanor Mracek of Protivin; seven brothers, Ignatius and Pauline Kriener of Fort Atkinson, Linus Kriener of Fort Atkinson, Peter and Diane Kriener of Fort Atkinson, Herman and Greta Kriener of Spillville, Conrad and Kathleen Kriener of Fort Atkinson, Jerome and Madonna Kriener of Fort Atkinson, and Leo and Rosemary Kriener of Fort Atkinson; one sister-in-law, Anastasia Kriener of Fort Atkinson; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Francis Kriener was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Cyril Kriener in 1998, and his brother Lawrence Kriener in infancy.
