Adele C. Riha
Adele C. Riha, 92, of Vining, Iowa, died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 1999, at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids after a short illness.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 2, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with burial at St. Mary's Cemetery in Vining.
The services were officiated by the Rev. Keith Birch. Casket bearers were David Lowe, Chuck Reiter, Matt Stok, Kerry Dallamuth, Larry Rohach and Riehard Sokol.
A vigil service was held Friday, Oct. 1, at 7 p.m., with Patti Hoffman presiding. Rosary services were at 8 p.m., with St. Mary's Altar Society and Rosary Society in charge.
Another rosary service was held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, with K.D. Lodge No. 149.
Hand Funeral Home of Tama-Toledo handled arrangements.
Adele was the daughter of Albert and Laura (Hanson) Krueger. She grew up in the Vining area, where on Sept. 19, 1926, she was married to John "Jack" Riha.
Together they raised a family of five and operated the Ford dealership with Jack's dad, John Sr., until his retirement. Jack died June 16,1976.
Adele had continued to live in Vining, enjoying her gardening, her family and having her son, Paul, continue the family Ford dealership business.
Survivors include three sons and two daughters, Paul and Luree Riha of Vining, Doris and Ken Lawrence of Bell Plaine, Jack and Lorraine Riha of Cedar Rapids, Richard and Norma Riha of Vining, and Vicki and Roman Thome of Gilbertville.
Also surviving are a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Attending the funeral from this area were relatives from St. Lucas, Waucoma and DECORAH.
