Kenneth A. Grimstad

A memorial service for Kenneth A. Grimstad, age 43, of Redmond, Wash., was held at 3 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 4, 1999, at Overlake Christian Church, 9900 Willows Road Northeast, Redmond, Wash.

Memorial services also will be held at First Lutheran Church in Decorah Saturday, Nov. 13, at 11 a.m.

Kenneth died Oct. 30, 1999, following a work-related accident at work Oct. 29.

Ken was born May 27, 1956, in Owatonna, Minn. He was raised near Decorah and Waukon, and Deer River, Minn. He graduated from Deer River (Minn.) High School.

After high school he acquired his degree in theology and religious education, at Outreach Bible College in Mclntosh, Minn., and Philadelphia Bible College in Seattle, Wash.

For the last eight years Ken worked at Advanced Fire Protection in Woodinville, Wash. It was there two years ago he met his wife, Elaine.

They were married Aug. 2, 1998. Ken and Elaine lived in Redmond, Washington with her four children.

Ken enjoyed hiking Mount Rainier with his family and friends. His favorite pastime was to share the gospel with others.

He will be remembered as a wonderful and loving husband, father, son, grandson and brother.

Survivors include wife Elaine Grimstad and six children, Jennifer Weiland, 21, Tiffany Grimstad, 13, Bruce Handlon, 14, Bailey Handlon, 11, Brynn Handlon, 5, and Sabrina HandIon, 4; parents, Margie and Lyle DeBower of Decorah, and Hal and Andrea Grimstad of Palm Desert, Calif.; brother Glenn Grimstad and wife Karen and children Brianne, Jennyanne, Corbett and Suzanne of Waukon; sister Melanie and husband Dale Kleiner and children David Kleiner and Katherine and Jason Rich of Decorah; and grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Eggers of Owatonna, Minn., Edith Grimstad of Decorah, and Helena DeBower of Allison.
