Matthew Oyloe

Matthew Ronald Oyloe, 20, of rural Decorah, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 1999, at Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital, after sustaining injuries in a farming accident.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 9, at 11 a.m., at Springfield Lutheran Church, rural Decorah, with the Rev. Paul Gunderson presiding.

Lorraine Meyer was the organist. Soloist Don DiLaura sang "Angels Among Us." The congregation sang "Children of the Heavenly Father" and "The Lord's Prayer." A George' Strait song, "You're Something Special to' Me" also was played.

Casket bearers were Emily Oyloe, Peter Oyloe, Sam Oyloe, Yori Oyloe, Brandi Zidlicky, Chris Zidlicky, Dean Zidlicky, Donald Zidlicky, Jaclyn Zidlicky, John Zidlicky, Kari Zidlicky, Lisa Zidlicky, Michelle Zidlicky, Mike Zidlicky, Sara Zidlicky, Sondra Zidlicky and Travis Zidlicky.

Honorary bearers were Chad Backes, Lloyd Bjergum, Buck Boice, Mark Bouska, Joe Costigan, David Elsbernd, Terry Goza, Wes Hageman, Will Hageman, Dan Hartl, Charles Halverson, Dan Houdek, Chad Humpal, Jeremy Humpal, Lee Huinker, Glen Jevne, Travis Lennon, Kent Lensch, Jeremy Leplant, Wade Thuente, Cory Tieskotter, Nevin Vries and Terry Wolford.

Interment was at the Springfield Lutheran Cemetery. The French Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Matthew was born Feb. 8, 1979, in Decorah, the son of Ronald and Mary Oyloe.

He was baptized March 25, 1979, and confirmed May 2, 1993, both at Springfield Lutheran Church, rural Decorah.

Matt attended South Winneshiek High School in Calmar, where he graduated in 1997. While in school, Matt participated in 4-H and FFA.

He enjoyed farming. He also was an avid outdoors man.

Matt will be remembered by his family and friends for his willingness to help with any task, the bright smile on his face and the fact he never had a cross word for anyone.

He was a lifelong member of the Springfield Lutheran Church. Matt also was a member of the Northeast Iowa Coon Hunting Association, where he was always eager to help everyone with any aspect of coon hunting.

Survivors include his parents, Ronald and Mary Oyloe of rural Decorah; two brothers, Derek Oyloe of Chanhassen, Minn., and Jason Oyloe of rural Decorah; grandparents Carl and Gilma Oyloe of Decorah, and Art and Gay Zidlicky of Spillville; and uncles and aunts, Gary Oyloe and Jo Siddens of Waterloo, Marc and Lana Oyloe of Decorah, Ed and Karen Kramer of Grayslake, IL, Dennis and Donna Zidlicky of Waukon, David and Bonnie Zidlicky of Ridgeway, John and Joan Zidlicjky of Kamar, Gary Zidlicky of Decorah, Alan Zidlicky of Rochester, and Dick and Myrna Ingram of Decorah.

Great uncles and aunts include Ida Ingram, Mel and Norma Oyloe, Stella Oyloe, Marlys Hegseth, George Solum, Roger Solum, Milt and Orpha Obermeier, Palma Zidlicky, Laura Zidlicky, Dean and LaVonne Thompson, Don and Donna Hanson, and Glen and Beth Sheeley.
