Roland Danielson

Roland C. Danielson, 77, of Sherwood, Wis., and formerly of Ridgeway, died Friday, Oct. 22, 1999, at the St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton, Wis., of a sudden illness.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 26, at 2 p.m., at Peace Lutheran Church in Ridgeway, by the Revs. Phillip and Ginny Olson.

Martha Olson will be the organist Soloist Luann Soukup will sing "Precious Lord, Take My Hand."

The congregation sang "Mine Eyes Have Seen the Glory," "Amazing Grace" and "When Peace, Like A River."

Casket bearers will be Gene Buck, Paul Danielson, Sam Danielson, Tim Danielson, Jeff Lee, Andy Olson, Robert Vick and Denis Wemark.

Pall bearers will be Katrianna Bockhorn, Kelsey Bockhorn, Jacob Danielson, Joshua Danielson, Barbara Knetter and Jennifer Little. Taran Danielson will be the cross bearer.

Interment will be at the Lincoln Cemetery, rural Ridgeway, with military rites by Helof-Holm V.F.W. Post No. 1977 and Bematz-Symonds American Legion Post No. 163.

The Fjelstul Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Visitation will be held at the church Tuesday, beginning at noon.

Roland was born Dec. 5, 1921, in Canoe Township, in Winneshiek County, the son of Peter Andrew and Nora (Korsen) Danielson.

He was baptized at the Hauge Lutheran Church in January of 1922 and confirmed at Hauge Oct. 27,1935.

Roland was educated in the rural schools of Canoe Township of Winneshiek County and at Decorah High School.

He married Harriet Flatland Aug. 19, 1951, at Lincoln Church in Lincoln Township of Winneshiek County.

Roland, a retired farmer, served in the United States Army during World War II in the Philippines, Korea and the South Pacific, and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

The family includes his wife, the Rev. Harriet Danielson; his son, Roland Theodore and Stephanie Danielson and their children, Joshua and Jacob, of San Diego, Calif.; his daughter, Dr. Christine and Eric Bockhorn and their children, Katrianna and Kelsey, of Sherwood, Wis., and their daughter. Mari Anne Danielson of Aurora, Colo.; his brother, Norine (deceased) and Evelyn Danielson of Swea City (their children Paul, Carol, Linda and Ruth); his sister Loretta (Eddie-deceased) Henning of Kennewick, Wash, (and their daughter Lois); his sister, Palma (Woodrow-deceased) Buck of Ames (and her children Mike, Gene and John); his brother, Roger and Mildred Danielson of Burr Oak (and his deceased son Gregory); his sister, Harriet and John Toras of the Chicago area (and their children Sharon, Joan, John and Alice); Roland, deceased; his sister, Edyth (Carl, deceased) Greibel of Wanamingo, Minn, (and their children Carla, Wendy, Russell and Mark); the twins, Geraldine and Ronald Cook of Webster City (and their children Jan, Rod and Rhonda) and Gordon and Colleen Danielson of Decorah (and his children Jennifer, Barbara, Matthew-deceased, and Tim); his sister, Olive and Norlan Lee of Fridley, Minn, (and their Jeff, Eric, Jim and Tom); and many great nieces, nephews and cousins.
