Loren Rodman

Loren Junior Rodman, 74, of Waukon, died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1999, at the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon, following a brief illness.

Funeral service were held Friday, Dec. 10, at 11 a.m., at the First Presbyterian Church in Waukon, with the Rev. Larry Olson officiating.

Casket bearers were Robert J. Anderson, Lester Delaney, Earl Gander, Neil Earth, Richard Sanderson and Ralph Grotegut.

Burial with military graveside rites was at the Oakland Cemetery in Waukon. The Martin Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Loren Junior Rodman was born Nov. 14, 1925, in Monticello, the son of Alva and Monica (Arduser) Rodman. He was baptized and confirmed at the United Presbyterian Church in Springville and graduated from Springville High School in 1942.

He served in the United States Navy as a radar man from 1943-46 and saw duty in the South Pacific.

On July 6, 1947, he married Nyda Mae Deeny at the Presbyterian parsonage in Waukon.

Loren worked for several years for the Eclipse Lumber Co. in Waukon. He then managed the Redi-Mix plant for a time until becoming a partner in West Side Lumber Co. in Waukon, where he worked for many years. Recently he helped oversee construction of the Waukon Aquatic Center.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Waukon, the V.F.W. and the American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, hunting, gardening, playing cards, taking drives in the countryside and the Chicago Cubs and Bears.

He also enjoyed following the activities of his sons when they were in school.

Survivors include two sons, Len and Julie Rodman of Olathe, Kan., and Brian Rodman of West Union; one brother, Lyle and Mary Rodman of DECORAH; and two sisters, Carol Macon of Iowa City, and Wanda and Bob Wencl of Colorado Springs, Colo.

Loren Rodman was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nyda Mae; and an infant son, Donald Allan.
