Judy Reicks

Judy Reicks, 63, died at her home in Cresco Friday, Aug. 18, 2000, after a courageous struggle with cancer.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 22, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's worship Center in Cresco. The Rev. Henry Charipar presided with the Rev. Msgr. L.H. Reicks and the Rev. Msgr. Donald Hawes concelebrating.

The daughters placed the pall on the casket and the granddaughters carried the gifts. The three daughters did all the readings.

Suzanne Ollendick accompanied Joe Wacha as he led the congregation in song, singing "Here I Am, Lord" "Hosea," "On Eagles Wings," "Be Not Afraid" and "City of God".

The brothers and brothers-in-law were the casket bearers, Darrell, Rick, James and Randy Wagner, Konrad Verlsteffen and Mark Balk.

Burial was at the Calvary Cemetery. The Conway Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Judith Rose (Wagner) Reicks was born July 26, 1937, near Spillville, the daughter of Edward and Gladys (Huber) Wagner. She was baptized and confirmed in her faith at the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville.

She attended rural school, the parochial school in Spillville and graduated from Calmar High School.

On Aug. 13, 1960, she was joined in Holy Matrimony with Denis H. Reicks of St. Lucas at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville. She and Denis started with their labor of love in farming and raising their family.

Judy was an active and vital partner in the family farm, while supporting and sharing in the lives and activities of her children and grandchildren.

She greatly enjoyed landscaping and gardening, a love that she shared with her family and friends. She enjoyed nature and being outdoors.

Judy was active in her church community, liked to square dance and had belonged to a neighborhood card club.

Survivors include her husband, Denis; six children and their spouses, Wendy and Dan Bohr of Cresco, Dean and Lisa Reicks of Cresco, Cindy and Ted Frana of Ridgeway, Carla Reicks of San Diego, Calif., Brian Reicks of Cedar Rapids and Aarin Reicks of Cresco; six granddaughters, Vanessa, Kathleen and Candice Bohr, Stephanie, Sarah and Rachel Frana; her father and mother, Edward and Gladys Wagner of Fort Atkinson; four brothers, Darrell Wagner of Calmar, Rick Wagner of Protivin, James Wagner of Cedar Rapids and Randy Wagner of Fort Atkinson; two sisters, Jeanne Verlsteffen of Coral Springs, Fla., and Janice Balk of Waucoma; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
