Ethel Lorraine Casterton
Ethel Lorraine Casterton, 70, of Spring Grove, Minn., died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 1999, at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, Wis., after a short illness.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 27, at 2 p.m., at the Highland Lutheran Church of rural Spring Grove, Minn., with the Rev. Barbara Wangsness Lizarazo officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the Roble Funeral Home in Spring Grove Friday, Nov. 26, from 5-8 p.m., and at the church one hour before services Saturday.
Ethel (Gulbro) Casterton was born April 26, 1929, in Winneshiek County, the daughter of Affrey and Isabelle (Grindland) Gulbro.
She attended the rural Highlandville School. On May 31, 1947, she married Lawrence S. Casterton.
She started farming with her husband in rural Spring Grove in 1950. After the death of her husband Feb. 15, 1984, Ethel moved to Spring Grove.
Ethel worked at Tweeten/Lutheran Health Care Center and KQYB Radio Station since 1981.
She was a member of Highland Lutheran Church, where she was active in various church groups.
Survivors include two sons, Roger Casterton of Spring Grove, Minn., and Robbie Casterton of Caledonia, Minn.; one daughter, Linda and Wiley Harley of Frederick, Md.; two grandsons, Christopher and Timothy Harley; and three sisters, Helen Asleson of International Falls, Minn., Leila Merrick of Laguna Niegel, Calif, and Sadie Wilder of Anaheim, Calif.
Ethel Casterton was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a brother, Gerald Gulbro.
