Lawrence Drenth

Lawrence Drenth, 62, of Decorah, died Thursday, May 13, 1999, at home.

The body was donated to the University of Osteopathip Medicine and Health Sciences in Des Moines.

There will be an informal open house Saturday, May 15, from 2-4 p.m., at the Drenth family home, 2654 River Road, Decorah.

The Fjelstul Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Memorials may be given to Hospice of Winneshiek County.

Lawrence was born July 22, 1936, in Clarksville, the son of Sam and Elizabeth (Grimmius) Drenth. His stepmother was Gertrude Drenth.

He graduated from Clarksville High School in 1954 and served in the United States Army from 1954-56.

On Aug. 27, 1958, Lawrence was united in marriage with Judith Ferry, near Clarksville. He farmed near Clarksville before moving to Decorah in 1967.

Survivors include two daughters, Debra Drenth of Castle Rock, Colo., and Sandra Drenth and fiance Jim Lang of Decorah; two brothers, Ben and Shirley Drenth of Tampa, Fla., and twin brother Lowell and Phyllis Drenth of Decorah; four sisters, Jeannette Drenth of St. Paul, Minn., Genevieve Francis of Waterloo, Orvilla and Bill Devine of Waterloo and Charlene and Bernard Whiteside of Shell Rock; and one sister-in-law, Evelyn Drenth of Lyle, Minn.

Lawrence Drenth was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother; and one brother, Charles Drenth.
