Rites Held For H. R. McMartin
Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 o'clock December 7 for Harry Roy McMartin, 72, who passed away at his home in Jesup Monday night. He had been in failing health a number of years and last week suffered a stroke.
Rev. R. A. Badger officiated at the service. Mrs. E. A. Madill and Mrs. Oakley RuLon sang "Ivory Palaces" and "In the Garden." Burial was in Cedar Crest cemetery.
Mr. McMartin was born May 17, 1878 at Castalia, the son of Peter and Lucinda McMartin. He united in marriage with Nellie Tatro on April 5, 1898, at Calmar. They farmed near Castalia until 1924 when they moved to Jesup. He was employed at the Jesup Creamery until his retirement about six years ago because of failing health.
Surviving are his widow, two daughters, Mrs. Earl Fisher of Jesup, and Mrs. H. W. Kistner of Arlington, Virginia; two sons, William A. of Los Angeles, California and Helma of Jesup; ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren, also one brother, A. L. McMartin of Los Angeles, California.
Preceding him in death were two sisters, one brother, and one grandson, Lt. Robert Fisher in World War II.
Mr. and Mrs. George Schultz, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Campbell, Mr. and Mrs. Allen Green of Castalia and Mr. and Mrs. Lester Neverman of Waukon attended the services.
