Rueben "Rube" Swehla, 90, died Thursday, May 6, 1999, at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 8, at 10 a.m., at the Major-Erickson Funeral Home in Mason City, with the Rev. Randy Nielsen, chaplain of the Good Shepherd Nursing Home, officiating.
Burial was at the Bohemian National Cemetery of rural Protivin.
Rube was born June 13, 1908, in Mason City, the son of William and Anna (Kunt) Swehla. He attended Mason City schools.
He worked for the Globe-Gazette running the press for 45 years. Rube enjoyed dancing and was a former member of the Moose Lodge.
Survivors include special friend Letha Carver of Mason City; several nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and nephews.
Rube Swehla was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Helen and Cecilia.
