I. B. McMartin Is Interred At Castalia Monday
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. at the Castalia E. U. B. Church for Ivan Burt McMartin, 80, who passed away at Postville Hospital Friday, July 3.
The rites were in charge of Rev. Walter T. Martin, pastor of the Community Presbyterian Church of Postville, with Masonic services at the grave. Burial was at Castalia.
Ivan Burt McMartin, fourth child of Daniel A. and Julia Brush McMartin, was born on the farm in Bloomfield township, Winneshiek county, Iowa September 19, 1872 and passed away at Postville Hospital on July 3, 1953 at the age of 80 years, nine months and 14 days.
His early schooling was the home rural school. Later he attended the Valder Normal School at Decorah, from which he graduated in 1897. He taught in the rural school for several years after which he took up farming. Nearly his entire life has been spent on the home farm where he was born.
He was a member of the Masonic Fraternity being a member of Brotherly Love Lodge No. 204 at Postville and Iowa Consistory No. 2 A and A. S. R. at Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, brother Willis and two sisters, Effie and Edith. He is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Martha T. Dresser of Boise, Idaho, Mrs. Elsie Kobriger of Castalia and Jessie at home; and two brothers, Frank of Flandreau, South Dakota and Elmer at home.
