Eunice Johnson

Eunice Johnson, 97, formerly of Sturgeon Bay, Wisc., died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001 in Decorah at the Aase Haugen Home.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 31 at Bayview Lutheran Church, with burial at Bayside Cemetery. The Huehns Funeral Home (formerly Davis Mortuary) of Sturgeon Bay is handling arrangements.

Eunice H. Johnson was born June 19, 1903 in Sturgeon Bay, the daughter of the late John Joseph and Hansina (Anderson) Hoslett.

She attended Milwaukee Normal School receiving her teaching certification.

Eunice Johnson taught school in Sturgeon Bay during World War II, and in 1945 she moved to Manitowoc and taught at McKinnley School until 1970. She spent seven years in Arizona and then moved back to Sturgeon Bay, eventually moving to Iowa to be with her sister-in-law, Martha Hoslett.

On August 19,1925 she married Jess Benjamin Johnson in Sturgeon Bay.

She was a member of Bayview Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid Society, and was also an active member at First Lutheran Church in Manitowoc.

Surviving Eunice Johnson are her three sons, William and Paula Johnson of Wimberley, Texas; Jess B. and Barbara Johnson, Jr. of Brussels; Erik P. and Sylvia Johnson of Lilburn, Ga.; five grandchildren, David, Jay, Paul, Julie and Kirsten; six great-grandchildren; and a special person, Joan Draeb.

Eunice H. Johnson was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on Jan. 28, 1963; one grandson, Thor Johnson; three brothers, Emil, Sherman, and Norman; one sister, Marie Kvaase; and twin infant sisters.
