Krista Huinker

Krista Marie Huinker, 16, of Fort Atkinson, died Friday, April 21, 2000, near Calmar, as the result of a motor vehicle accident.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, April 25, at 11 a.m., at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Festina. The Rev. Msgr. Cletus Hawes officiated.

Alan Sensor was the organist. Don DiLaura was the soloist, singing "My Heart Will Go On" and "On Eagle's Wings."

Casket bearers were Joe Einck, Jesse Einck, Linus Luzum, Marcus Henning, Michael Henning and Randy Kuennen.

Interment was at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Cemetery, Festina. The French Funeral Home of Calmar handled arrangements.

Krista was born Dec. 14, 1983, in Decorah, the daughter of Dean and Leann (Einck) Huinker.

She attended CFS Catholic School until eighth grade. She was a sophomore at South Winneshiek High School.

Krista was a member of the South Winneshiek volleyball team, the softball team and the basketball team. She belonged to the National Honor Society, high school yearbook and the choir.

She enjoyed talking on the phone to her friends, going shopping, taking pictures and making people laugh.

Krista worked at the Train Station in Calmar.

Survivors include her parents, Dean and Leann Huinker of Fort Atkinson; one brother, Ryan Huinker of Fort Atkinson; grandparents Robert and Arlene Huinker of Calmar, Leander Einck of Calmar, Rosalie Burger of Waterloo and Maurice Pentecost of Independence.

Surviving aunts and uncles include Carol and Bruce Stanbrough of West Union, Sharon and Dan Henning of Calmar, Keith Huinker of Calmar, Duane Huinker of Vinton, Maryern Einck of Spillville, and Pat and Diana Gardner of Cedar Rapids.

Cousins include Marcus and Michael Henning, Christopher, Joshua and Jesse Stanbrough, Ashley Huinker, Jesse Einck, Danielle and Aimee Dotzenrod, Brook Einck, Eric and Tina Gardner, Kelsey Einck and Jaymes Dotzenrod.

Krista Marie Huinker was preceded in death by her grandmother, Adela Einck, and uncle, Pat Einck.
