Clarence Fischer

Clarence J. "Bud" Fischer, 70, of Mason City and formerly of Mitchell, died suddenly of natural causes Wednesday, April 26, 2000, near Castalia.

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 29, at 1 p.m., at Faith Lutheran Church in Mitchell, with the Rev. Rose Marie Nack officiating.

Interment was at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Mitchell with military rites by Osage American Legion Post. The Champion Funeral Home in Osage handled arrangements.

Clarence was born Oct. 4, 1929, on the family farm near Castalia, the son of Henry and Henrietta (Zien) Fischer. He attended school in Ossian and served with the United States Army in the Korean War.

He was united in marriage to Bonnie Pederson July 3, 1951. They raised four children in Mitchell. Later they divorced.

He worked 25 years in Mason City at the Decker and Armour meat packing plants, and was a union steward.

He retired and continued enjoying life. Bud was a social person who enjoyed fishing, camping and dancing. He was a member of the American Legion.

Survivors include three sons, Dennis Fischer of Mitchell; John and JoAnn Fischer and their two children, Jesse and Jamie Hennessey and husband, Bill; and Lynn and Kathy Fisher of Mitchell and their four children, DJ, Brian, Brad and David; two sisters, Margaret Phillips of Waucoma and Mary Lou Bigler of Jackson Junction; four brothers, Martin and Bonnie Fischer of Festina, Micky and Dianne Fischer of Waucoma, Jerry and Barb Fischer of Fort Atkinson and Robert Fischer and Nancy of Gladbrook; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Arietha Riha.

Clarence Fischer was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Carol in 1969; one sister, Venita Phillips; and a fiance, Evelyn Holms in 1998.
