Myrtle Jeanette Snitker

Myrtle Jeanette Snitker, 89, of Decorah, died Wednesday, March 24, 1999, at the Oneota Riverview Care Facility.

Funeral services were held Friday, March 26, at 11 a.m., at Decorah Lutheran Church, with the Revs. James Glesne, Tim Tostengard and Ole Winter officiating.

Diane Kvamme was the organist. The congregation sang "Amazing Grace," "Beautiful Savior" and "On Eagle's Wings."

Casket bearers were Bill Cronbaugh, Pat Kelsey, Gerald Rodenkirk, Mark Rodenkirk, Mike Rodenkirk and Theodore Rodenkirk, Jr.

Burial was at the Frankville Cemetery in Frankville. The Fjelstul Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Myrtle (Turner) Snitker was born Nov. 2, 1909, in Decorah, the daughter of Ed and Amanda (Spilde) Turner. She graduated from Decorah High School in 1928.

She was married to Milton L. Snitker March 16, 1935, in Decorah.

Myrtle was a homemaker and also held various jobs. She was a member of Decorah Lutheran Church and its circles.

Survivors include one daughter, Charlotte and Theodore Rodenkirk of Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren, Joseph and Denise Rodenkirk of Cedar Rapids, Teresa and Pat Kelsey of Warminster, Pa., Mark and Patty Rodenkirk, Theodore Rodenkirk Jr., Mike and Sherry Rodenkirk, Gerald Rodenkirk, and Hazel Tyler, all of Cedar Rapids, and Margaret and Bill Cronbaugh of Marion; and 10 greatgrandchildren.

Myrtle Snitker was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Milton, who died Aug. 17, 1962; an infant son; a great-grandson, Matthew Tyler; three sisters, Emma Youngblood, Helen Bray and Charlotte Krambeer; and three brothers, Lyle Lewis, Carl Lewis and Raymond Lewis.
