Ruth Higbee
Ruth S.E. Higbee, 79, of Beloit, Wis. and formerly of Decorah, died Saturday, Feb. 6, 1999 at the Primer Skilled Care Home.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 9, at 11 a.m., at Our Saviour Lutheran Church in Lansing, IL., with the Rev. Peter Hartmann officiating.
Burial was at the Concordia Cemetery in Hammond, Ind. The Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home of Lansing, IL., handled arrangements.
Ruth (Hegg) Higbee was born June 19, 1919. She graduated from Decorah High School in 1937. She spent two years at Luther College, then graduated from the Presbyterian School of Nursing in Chicago.
Ruth was united in marriage with Gordon L. Higbee, of Meadow Grove, Neb., April 23, 1942, in Chicago.
Survivors include four children, Sharon and Edward Iversen and daughter Anna Kay, and son Allen and wife Sigred, and their children, Johanna and
Isabella; Gordon, Jr. and Meg Higbee and children Jasemine and Joshua; Jacqueline and Joe Mallozzi and children Michael and Meghan; and Barbara and Kenneth Herquist and children Jennifer, Dennis and Robert.Other survivors include one brother John O. Hegg of Decorah; his son, John M. and Mary Hegg and children John Adam and Crystal; his daughter, Jendean and the Rev. Dan Olson and children Andrew, Angela and Aaron; and daughter Ilene and Ray Pavelko and children Leah and Rachel.
Also surviving are sisters-in-law Edith Gipp, Becky Daniels, Marie Sersland and Gerda Sersland; brother-in-law Leo Hammel and numerous cousins and friends.
