Andrew Montgomery, 38, of Afton, Minn., died Tuesday morning, Feb. 2, 1999, in a car accident on his way to work.
He was president of Planners Financial Services in Edina, Minn.
A memorial service was held Saturday, Feb. 6, at 2 p.m., at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, in Denmark Township, Minn. The Cremation Society of Minnesota Chapel handled arrangements.
Andrew was born May 25, 1960, in Decorah, the son of Barbara and Henry Montgomery.
He graduated magna cum laude from Coe College in Cedar Rapids and earned the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation from the College of Financial Planning in Denver, Colo.
Andrew attended schools in Decorah, Charles City, Trieste, Italy and Sao Paulo, Brazil. He spoke both Italian and Portuguese.
He was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi, national academic honor societies, and Omicron Delta Epsilon, a national economics honor society. Andrew was an active member of St. Mary's Episcopal. Church of Denmark; Township, Minn.
He was a member of the Institute of Certified Financial Planners and was on the Editorial Review Board for their professional journal. He had served on the Board of Directors and as educational director of the Minnesota Society of the ICFP.
Andrew was a past president and an active member of the Minneapolis Estate Planning Council. He had been the current president and longtime member of the Realtors Toastmasters No. 2512. Andrew taught adult financial education locally for many years and nationally at various meetings on financial planning and investment management.
He was profiled in Marquis "Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America, "Who's Who Finance and Industry," "Who's Who in the Midwest," "Who's Who in the World" and "Who's Who in America."
Andrew was president of Planners Financial Services of Edina, Minn., compliance officer, he chaired the Investment Committee, and was a partner with his father, Henry, in Montgomery Investment Management.
He enjoyed his family, his profession, his dogs, birding, sailing and travel.
Survivors of Andrew Montgomery include his wife, Susan Richner; his parents, Barbara and Henry Montgomery of Bloomington, Minn.; his
brother, Michael and wife Peggy, David and Daniel of Oak Lawn, IL.; his sister, B.
