Jeffrey Hoppe

Jeffrey Hoppe, 37, of Decorah, died Sunday, March 4, 2001 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn., of complications from Pulmonary Fibrosis of the lungs.

A Mass of Christian Burial service was held Wednesday, March 7 at 11 a.m. at St. Bridget's Catholic Church in Bluffton, with Rev. Henry Charipar officiating.

Music was provided by organist Alan Sensor and Cantor Dan Silhacek.

Casket bearers were Ervin Yahr, Travis Ryan, Tim Milligan, Jason Nelson, Dave Fadness and Steve Sorenson.

Interment was at St. Bridget's Catholic Cemetery in Bluffton, with French and Balik Funeral Home of Decorah handling arrangements.

Jeffrey Lane Hoppe was born Sept. 6, 1963, the son of Eugene and Karen (McCabe) Hoppe in Decorah.

He attended North Winneshiek School and then Decorah schools, graduating in 1984.

Jeffrey Hoppe worked at Deco Products, Calmar Graphics and at Carlson's, until his declining health forced him to quit work three years ago.

He enjoyed watching NASCAR and the Minnesota Vikings, and also enjoyed gambling and going to the boat and Las Vegas.

Surviving Jeffrey Hoppe are his mother, Karen and Ron Hageman of Decorah; his father, Eugene and Linda Hoppe of St. Paul, Minn.; a sister, Sue and John Ryan of Cresco; two brothers, David Hoppe of Decorah and Pat and Dawn Hoppe of Decorah; two step brothers, Christopher Williams and Dennis Williams of St. Paul; a step sister, Heather and Dan Podgorski of St. Paul; four nieces and nephews; two step-nieces and nephews; a grandfather, Howard McCabe of Holland, Iowa; step-grandparents Parnell and Nora Hageman of Canton, Minn.; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Jeffrey Lane Hoppe was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charlotte McCabe and Kermit and Ellen Hoppe and one cousin, James Wentworth.
