Clair LaVerne Magnus

Clair LaVerne Magnus, 80, of Cresco, died Friday, Feb. 5, 1999, at the Cresco Care Center.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, Feb. 9, at 1 p.m., at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Cresco, with the Rev. Bruce Hobert officiating.

Burial will be at Oak Lawn Cemetery. The Lindstrom Funeral Home of Cresco is handling arrangements. Friends may call at the church one hour before services.

Clair was born Oct 4, 1918, in Ridgeway, the son of Carl and Louise (Lundby) Magnus. He attended country schools.

He was united in marriage with Bernyce Farren at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. To this union three children were born.

Clair was self-employed and before his retirement also worked for Balk Lime and Ready Mix Concrete Inc.

He was united in marriage with Berdene Smith Sanders Nov. 17, 1979.

Survivors include two sons, Loren Magnus of Mocksville, N.C. and Ron Magnus of Highlandville; one daughter, Janice and Dan Ollendick of Cresco; one stepson, Bruce Sanders of Riceville; a stepdaughter, Cheryl and Craig Powers of Cresco, 19 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Grayce Gunhus of Cresco.

Clair Magnus was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Berdene; a stepson, Blaine Sanders, and two sisters, Clela Christianson and Alice Helen.
