Glenda Stockdale

Glenda Stockdale, 48, formerly of Mankato, Minn., died Wednesday, April 21, 1999, following a lengthy battle with cancer.

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 24, at 11 a.m., at First Lutheran Church in Cresco, with the Rev. Gary K. Lee officiating and Steve Gjerde, intern.

Darlene Shaw was the organist. The congregation sang "Children of the Heavenly Father," "How Great Thou Art," "Built on a Rock" and "Crown Him with Many Crowns." The Rev. Lee sang "Nearer My God to Thee."

Casket bearers were Dale Vagts, Richard Amundson, James Ott, Robert Moen, Steve Moen, Troy Gardner, C.J. Barkema and Ben Barkema.

Interment was at Oak Lawn Cemetery. The Lindstrom Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Glenda (Milbrath) Stockdale was born Sept. 5, 1950, in Cresco, the first of three children born to Jeanette (Enger) and George Milbrath. She was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Cresco.

After graduation from Cresco High School in 1968, she received her nursing degree from Rochester (Minn.) Junior College.

Glenda worked as a registered nurse for almost 25 years at Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato, Minn., before an early retirement in 1996. She was known as being dedicated to her profession with the labor and delivery unit of the hospital and was respected by both her patients and colleagues.

Glenda enjoyed her dogs, cat and birds.

Survivors include her parents, George and Jeanette Milbrath of Cresco; her daughter, Kendra and Matt Tobin of Appleton, Wis.; her son, Sam Stockdale of Mankato, Minn.; two sisters, Wanda and Jim Barkema of Muscatine, and Cindy and Eric Gardner of Marion, as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Glenda Stockdale was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents.
