Karen Tangeman

Karen Tangeman, 57, of Des Moines, died of complications of cancer Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2000, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

The body was cremated and burial will be at a later date. The Caldwell Raddatz Hickman Chapel in Urbandale handled visitation and arrangements.

Karen (Thompson) Tangeman was born Feb. 28, 1942, in Decorah, the daughter of Nathan and Irene Thompson. She attended school in Decorah.

She had been in Des Moines since 1960, and lived in Monroe for 20 years prior to Des Moines.

Karen worked in the food service profession for several restaurants before retiring. She was a member of the Iowa Dietary Managers Association.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Tangeman of Des Moines; five sons, Ron and Cindy Tangeman of Monroe, Jim and Connie Tangeman of Monroe, Scott and Nancy Tangeman of Des Moines, Roger and Laura Tangeman of Norwalk, and Curt and Brenda Tangeman of Dekalb, IL; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; her mother, Irene Thompson of Decorah; one brother, Ernie Thompson of Cresco; and Judy Snyder of Decorah.

Karen Tangeman was preceded in death by her father, Nathan, and one, grandson, Nick.
