Hattie Juve

Hattie Juve, 82, of Decorah, died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000 at the Aase Haugen Home in Decorah.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, Dec. 5 after 9:30 a.m. at Decorah Lutheran Church. Funeral services will follow at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. James Glesne and Rev. Ole Winter officiating.

Pallbearers will be Hattie Juve's children: James Juve, Ronald Juve, Dennis Juve, David Juve, John Juve, Robert Juve, Richard Juve and Patricia Lien.

James Juve will present remembrances during the service. The congregation will sing "Lift High the Cross," "O Master, Let Me Walk With Thee," and "Beautiful Savior." Additional music will be provided by The Toetappers, who will perform "When Irish Eyes are Smiling" and "Blue Skirt Waltz." Organist is Alan Sensor.

Burial will be at Big Canoe Lutheran Cemetery. Fjelstul Funeral Home of Decorah is handling the arrangements.

Hattie M. (Keefe) Juve was born on August 30, 1918, to Richard A. and Grace (Headington) Keefe of Glenwood Township. She attended the Rural Schools of Winneshiek County.

On January 25, 1939, she married Raymond Juve at Borgen Parsonage in Pleasant Township. The couple were the parents of nine children.

Hattie Juve lived all of her life in Winneshiek County. She was a U.S.D.A. Poultry Inspector at Wapsie Produce for many years. She was also a member of Decorah Lutheran Church, and prior to that, a member of Big Canoe Lutheran Church.

She enjoyed watching Decorah Baseball and Iowa Hawkeye Basketball. Her greatest enjoyment was family gatherings, being with friends and dancing—she felt that was her form of exercising. Hattie Juve was also a volunteer at the Aase Haugen Home for many years, where she became a resident on Dec. 9,1998.

Surviving Hattie Juve are seven sons and one daughter: James and Barb Juve of Decorah; Ronald and Sheryl Juve of Decorah; Dennis and Diane Juve of Decorah; David and Chae Juve of Valley Center, Calif.; John and Nancy Juve of Decorah; Robert and Mary Juve of Minneapolis; Richard and Darlene Juve of Decorah and Patricia and David Lien of Calmar.

Additional survivors include 16 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, two sisters, Agnes Forde and Ellen Berge, both of Decorah; one son-in-law, Gene Hinrichsen of Decorah; one sister-in-law, Thelma Keefe of Decorah and one brother-in-law, Kenneth and June Juve of Escohdido, Calif.

Hattie Mae Juve was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Raymond on August 20, 1987, one daughter, Norma Hinrichsen on Nov. 10, 1990, two brothers, Leonard and Lester Keefe, and one sister, Kathryn Keefe.
