Florence Sollien

Florence Lucille Sollien, 89, of Spring Grove, Minn., died Friday, Nov. 19, 1999, at Tweeten/Lutheran Health Care Services in Spring Grove.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 24, at 1:30 p.m., at the Highland Lutheran Church, rural Spring Grove, with the Rev. David Andreae officiating.

Burial will be at the Highland Lutheran Church Cemetery.

The Roble Funeral Home of Spring Grove is handling arrangements. Visitation will be held Tuesday, Nov. 23, from 5-7 p.m., at the funeral home and at the church Wednesday one hour prior to services.

Florence (Rauk) Sollien was born March 26, 1910, in Spring Grove, the daughter of Edward and Pauline, (Pederson) Rauk. She was a lifelong Spring Grove resident and attended high school there.

On Jan. 3, 1929 she was united in marriage with Syver C. Sollien. She and her husband farmed in rural Spring Grove until 1957, when they moved to Spring Grove.

She then worked as a clerk in the Quinnell Store, as well as Skifton's Grocery Store, both in Spring Grove.

Florence was a member of Highland Lutheran Church and its WELCA.

Survivors include three sons, Everett and Lois Sollien of Mabel, Minn., Floyd and Mary Lou Sollien of Decorah, and Arden and Pat Sollien of Rochester, Minn.; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Lila and Enoh Anderson of Spring Grove, and Frances Boe of Decorah.

Florence Sollien was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Syver, who died March 14, 1973; four brothers, Orlando, Eldred, Lloyd and Raymond; and a sister, Pearl Skaaren.
