Gladys Guttebo
Gladys Guttebo, 86, of Decorah, died Nov. 27, 2000 at the Aase Haugen Home.
Gladys Emma Guttebo was born on August 30, 1914, in Springfield Township, rural Decorah, to Peter and Emma (Moe) Guttebo. She was baptized Oct. 11, 1914, and was confirmed on June 16, 1929. She attended rural schools and Decorah High School.
She lived on the family farm and later moved to Decorah with her brother Levi and his wife, Nora. In March of 1995 Gladys Guttebo became a resident of Aase Haugen Home.
A warm-hearted person, Gladys Guttebo enjoyed caring for her niece, nephew, and great-nieces and nephews. She also provided child-care for several of the neighboring children, and cleaned homes.
Gladys Guttebo expressed her artistic talent in china painting, and she enjoyed growing flowers, watching birds, reading and sewing.
She was a life-long member of Washington Prairie Lutheran Church, where she was active in the women's group and circles.
Surviving Gladys Guttebo are one sister-in-law, Nora Guttebo of Decorah; one niece, Rose Ann Pridie and Rick of Sioux City; one nephew, Les Guttebo and Karen of Decorah; two great nieces, Kay Erdman of Orlando, Fla., and Kristin Cornelius and Nathan of Minneapolis; three great-nephews, Kent Guttebo and Jeri of Cocoa Beach, Fla.; Andrew Christofferson of Sioux City and Michael Christofferson of Sioux City. She is also survived by cousins.
Gladys Emma Guttebo was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Emma Guttebo, one brother, Levi Guttebo in 1995, as well as twin sisters in infancy.
