Eric Egge

Eric Egge, 90, of Decorah, died Nov. 23, 2000 at Barthell Eastern Star Nursing Home.

The funeral was held Monday, Nov. 27 at Washington Prairie Lutheran
Church at 2 p.m. The Rev. Kim W. Smith officiated. Organist was Paul Bruvold. Soloist Jeanne Koepp sang "Behold A Host." The congregation sang "Oh, Sing Jubilee to the Lord" and "Amazing Grace."

Burial was at Washington Prairie Lutheran Cemetery. Fjelstul Funeral Home of Decorah handled the arrangements.

Pallbearers were Aaron Andrews, Chet Egge, Ryan York, Frank Figge, Mel Klisart and Paul Estrem. Honorary Pallbearer was the Rev. Martin Trostle.

Eric Egge was born August 27, 1910 in Frankville Township to Paul and
Helena (Bratbakken Peterson) Egge.

He was baptized on Oct. 9, 1910 and confirmed on May 17, 1925. He attended Bakke School and Decorah High School.

On June 24, 1939 Eric Egge married Almira B. Sersland at Washington Prairie Lutheran Church with the Rey. Paul Koren officiating.

The couple had four children: Paul and Jennifer of Wahoo, N.E.; Evelyn and Mark Andrews of Moline, IL; and Esther Egge of Decorah. One son, Charles E. Egge, died on August 1, 1999.

They were members of Washington Prairie Lutheran Church in Decorah.

Eric Egge farmed many years in Frankville Township. In May 1991, he and his wife became residents of Barthell Eastern Star Nursing Home.

Surviving Eric Egge are his three children and a daughter-in-law, Marlys Egge of Kremmling, Colo.

Also surviving are five grandchildren: Chet and Sarah Egge, Erika and Ryan York, Aaron Andrews, David Andrews and Chad and Candy Johnson.

Eric Egge was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Almira on Sept. 11, 1994, one son, Charles; two sisters, Helen Figge and Esther Egge and by one nephew, Michael Figge.
