Funeral services for Austin C. Moen, 73, were held Wednesday, Dec. 7, 1:30 p.m. at Glenwood Lutheran Church, rural Decorah. Rev. Landis Olson officiated. Burial was in Glenwood East Church cemetery. Martin's of Waukon was in charge of arrangements.
Austin C. Moen, son of Paul and Charlotte Blegen Moen was born Aug. 31, 1915 in Union Prairie Township, Allamakee County, IA. He died Dec. 3, 1988 at Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waukon.
He received his education in rural Allamakee County schools (Bell School). He was a member of Glenwood Lutheran Church. He sang with the Gauken Singing Society (Glenwood); Luren Singers, Decorah; and the Allamakee Barbershoppers as well as the Glenwood church choir.
He married Myrtle Hill October 2, 1940 at the Glenwood Parsonage.
He was a lifetime resident of the area working as a milk and cream hauler in the 1940's and was a farmer.
Preceding him in death were his parents, a brother, Curtis and a nephew, James.
Survivors include his wife, Myrtle; 2 sisters, Mrs. Burton (Rose) Oyen, Decorah; Mrs. Roger (Doris) Darrington, Mabel, MN and a brother, Emmons Moen of Decorah.
Pallbearers were Duane Oyen, Larry Moen, Robert Berg, Duane Berg, James Berg.
