Arlene Doubek

Arlene R. Doubek, 76, died Saturday, Dec. 5, 1998, at the Good Samaritan Center in Postville.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec. 9, at 11 a.m., at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Monona, with the Rev. Daniel Keppler officiating.

The organist was Barb Ruff. Special music was provided by the St. Patrick's church choir.

Casket bearers were Dustin Schott, Clayton Harms, Kevin Brainard, Jr., Travis Upton, Daniel Durnan and Brian Bohr.

Burial was at the Calvary Cemetery in Prairie du Chien, Wis. Schultz's Funeral Home of Monona was in charge of arrangements.

Arlene (Quam) Doubek was born Nov. 18, 1922, at Decorah, the daughter of Alfred and Mathilda (Ramsey) Quam. She was educated in the Decorah school system.

She was united in marriage with Clarence J. Doubek, Sr. Oct 6, 1941, in Farmington, Minn. Arlene worked as a certified nurses aide in the hospitals in Decorah and Prairie du Chien, Wis.

Arlene enjoyed crocheting and fishing.

Survivors include daughters Cathryn "Kate" Guinn of Monona, Elizabeth "Betty" and Chuck Schott of Calmar, Norma and Wayne Fox of Phoenix, Ariz., Clarice and Leslie Upton of Plainview, Minn., Rebecca Voss of Glendale, Ariz., Teresa Louck of Monona, Janice and Kevin Brainard, Sr. of Monona, Esther and Dale Stika of Maricopia, Ariz., Sharon and Reed Stevenson of Cresco, and Shirley and Leo Durnan of Elgin; sons, Clarence, Jr. and Ginger Doubek of Iowa, Joseph and Corine Doubek of Fredericksburg, and Robert and Wanda Doubek of Wadena; 46 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; brothers, Milford Quam of Freeport and Arthur "Bud" Quam of Decorah; sisters Gladys Olson of St. Sterling, Wis., Ruby D'Oliveira of California, Alice Macha of Decorah and Marian Steele of Decorah; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Arlene Doubek was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence, Sr., who died June 30, 1989; one brother, Odin Quam, Sr.; three daughters, Anna Mae, Gloria and Clara; two sons, Alfred and Francis; and five grandchildren, Jamie, Cletus, Melissa, Tracy and Lori Ann.
