John P. Buchheit
John P. Buchheit, 90, of Fort Atkinson, died Friday, Nov. 27, 1998, at the Good Samaritan Center in Postville following a short illness.
A funeral mass was held Tuesday, Dec. 1, at 11 a.m., at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Festina, with the Rev. Richard Kuhn. Con-celebrants were the Rev. Arthur Kleve, the Rev. Donald Hawes and the Rev. James Heiar, S.V.D. Alan Sensor was the organist. The parish choir provided special music.
Casket bearers were Elmer Buchheit, Virgil Busta, Charles Langreck,
Melvin Kleve, Greg Wenthold and Ron Wenthold.Burial was at the church cemetery. The French Funeral Home in Calmar handled arrangements.
John was born Dec. 21, 1907, in Festina, the son of Casper and Margarite (Funke) Buchheit. He attended St. Mary's Parochial School in Festina.
He was united in marriage with Laurene Wenthold June 21, 1944, at Festina.
John farmed in the Festina area all his life. He retired to Calmar about four years ago. He was a member of Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Festina.
Survivors include two sons, Robert and Cathy Buchheit of Sioux City, and James and Debbie Buchheit of Calmar; and six grandchildren.
John Buchheit was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Laurene, who died June 11, 1993; three brothers, Nick, Henry and Aloysius; and two sisters, Christine Busta and Margaret Buchheit.
