Frances Irene Moen

Frances Moen, 73, of Blackhammer Township, rural Spring Grove, Minn., died Monday, June 14, 1999, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, Wis., of injuries sustained in an automobile accident near Decorah Sunday, June 13.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 17, at 2 p.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove, with the Rev. William Horn officiating.

Visitation will be held at the church from 1-2 p.m.

Burial will be at the Faith Lutheran Cemetery of Blackhammer, rural Spring Grove.

The Roble Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Frances Irene (Holm) Moen was born Jan. 10, 1926, in Blackhammer Township of rural Spring Grove, the daughter of Albert and Bertha (Ostem) Holm.

She was a lifelong resident of the Spring Grove area. She attended rural schools in Blackhammer District No. 37.

On Oct. 23, 1945, Frances was united in marriage with Thomas Moen in Blackhammer parsonage. She and her husband farmed in Blackhammer Township. Frances also had worked at Tweeten Lutheran Health Care Center in Spring Grove in the dietary department.

Frances was a member of Faith Lutheran Church of Blackhammer, rural Spring Grove.

Survivors include her husband Thomas of Blackhammer, rural Spring Grove; two sons, Dennis and Sarah Catherine Moen of Los Angeles, Calif., and Lowell and Joy Moen of Blackhammer, rural Spring Grove; five grandchildren, Laura, Jessica, Erik, Sarah and Cathy Anne; and two great grandchildren, Brittany and Brandon.

Other survivors include two brothers, Lawrence Holm of Spring Grove, and Donald "Doc" and Helen Holm of Spring Grove; and four sisters, Palma Hoff, Elvina Bratland and Dorothy Rosaaen, all of Spring Grove, and Lillian and Ralph Fitting of Houston, Minn. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
