Glen Reed Jr.

Glen O. Reed Jr., 72, of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., died at his home Saturday, March 27, 1999.

A memorial service is planned for 4:30 p.m., Saturday, April 3, at the LDS Chapel, 510 N. Acoma Blvd.

Arrangements are being handled by the Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.

Glen was born Feb. 2, 1927, in Burr Oak. He attended elementary school there and high school in Canton, Minn.

After serving in the military, he attended Northwestern Technical Institute in St. Paul, Minn., and became a licensed radio engineer and announcer.

He worked at radio stations in Glendive, Mont., Cloquet, Minn., and Menomonie, Wis., before joining AT&T in Appleton, Wis.

He moved to Lake Havasu City in 1971 and was employed by McCulloch Corp. where he served many years as fire marshal. In his spare time, he was actively engaged in safety issues such as first aid and occupational safety. Glen was always interested in helping other and spent a great deal of his efforts on those in need.

He was instrumental in organizing the Lake Havasu City Historical Society and was its first elected president.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Dorothy Reed of Lake Havasu City; his sister, Carol and Bill Battersby of Minneapolis, Minn.; daughters Nancy Allred of West Jordan, Utah, Susan and Bob Byms of Appleton, Wis. and Merry Oldfield of Sydney, Australia; 15 grandchildren; and many friends.
