Lillian Markovetz

Lillian Markovetz, 92, died Thursday, March 9, 2000, at the Aase Haugen Home in Decorah.

Funeral services were held Sunday, March 12, at 2 p.m., at the Conway Funeral Home in Cresco, with the Rev. Allan Schmitt presiding.

Paul Bruvold accompanied Carl Thompson, who sang "How Great Thou Art."

Casket bearers were John, Perry, Peter L. and Jeremy Olsgard, Ron Riehle and Nick Krause.

Burial was at the Calvary Cemetery, Cresco. The Conway Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Lillian (Korsa) Markovetz was born Oct. 27, 1907, at Fort Dodge, the daughter of Frank and Barbara (Barta) Korsa. She received her education in the rural schools near Fort Dodge.

On Sept. 13, 1932, she was united in marriage to John Bohach at Morrison, Illinois, and they moved to Cresco, where she had lived all her married life.

John died in 1947 and on July 27, 1948, she was united in marriage to Edward Markovetz in Chicago. They returned to Cresco to live and have lived in the same house.

Lilly enjoyed gardening and was good at raising flowers. She liked to collect rocks and had many rock gardens. She also enjoyed fishing, dancing, and having her grandchildren and great grandchildren visit.

Survivors include her husband, Ed; her children, Lillian and Peter N. Olsgard of Lime Springs, Diane and Carl Thompson of Decorah, and Genny and Jerry Riehle of Cresco; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Frances Homan of Bridgefield, Illinois.

Lillian Markovetz was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, John Bohach; one granddaughter, Cynthia; one son-in-law, Orval Bruvold; one brother, James Korsa; and two sisters, Barbara Lennon and Rosie Gabrisch.
