Charles Eric Egge

Charles E. Egge, 53, of Kremmling, Colo., died Sunday, Aug. 1, 1999, in a Jeep accident in the mountains near Kremmling.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 1,. at 10 a.m., at Washington Prairie Lutheran Church in rural Decorah, with the Revs. Kim W. Smith and John Sersland officiating.

Dan Hegg was the organist. Congregational hymns were "In the Garden," "The Lord's Prayer," "How Great Thou Art" and "Go Tell It on the Mountain."

Speaker Dave Pestotnik brought greetings.

Casket bearers were Aaron Andrews, David Andrews, Rick Koepp, Don Nelson, Dave Pestotnik and Pete Schnitzler.

Burial was at the Washington Prairie Lutheran Cemetery. The Fjelstul Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Charles Eric Egge was born Sept. 12, 1945, in Decorah, the son of Eric and Almira (Sersland) Egge.

He graduated from Decorah High School in 1963, then graduated from Area One Technical College in Calmar with a degree in carpentry.

Charles was married to Marlys Iverson at Greenfield Lutheran Church in Harmony, Minn., Oct. 28, 1967. After their marriage, they lived in Oelwein, where he was a carpenter.

Then they lived in Boone from 1969-95, where Charles was a member of the Carpenter's Union. Then they moved to Kremmling, Colo., to own and operate the historic Hotel Eastin.

Charles was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church in Boone. He was a former member of the Des Moines Carpenters Local No. 106 and was active in the Chamber of Commerce in Kremmling.

Charles enjoyed his family and his dog, Rudy. His hobbies included woodworking, bowling, fishing and driving trails in his Jeep.

Survivors include his wife, Marlys; one son. Chet and Sarah Egge of Bloomington, Illinois; one daughter, Erika Egge and fiance Ryan York of West Des Moines; his father, Eric Egge of Decorah; one brother, Paul and Jennifer Egge of Wahoo, Neb.; and two sisters, Evelyn and Mark Andrews of Moline, Illinois, and Esther Egge of Decorah.

Charles Egge was preceded in death by his mother, Almira, Sept. 11, 1994.
