Pauline Rosie Vsetecka
Pauline Rosie Vsetecka, 87, of Protivin, died Monday, Jan. 17, 2000, at the Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo after a short illness.
A funeral mass was held Wednesday, Jan. 19, at 11 a.m., at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Protivin, with the Rev. Allan Schmitt officiating.
Marlene Pecinovsky was the organist.
Casket bearers were Vincent Frana, Ron Shindelar, Gary Shindelar, Robert Wagner, Edgar Shindelar, Larry Shindelar, Thomas Wagner, John O. Shindelar, Edward Shindelar and Charles Shindelar.
Interment was at the Holy Trinity Cemetery. The Balik Funeral Home of Spillville handled arrangements.
Pauline (Shindelar) Vsetecka was born June 16, 1912, on the family farm near Spillville, the daughter of John J. and Anna (Kruchek) Shindelar. She attended grade school in Spillville.
On Oct. 9, 1933, she married Clarence Vsetecka at the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville. They farmed near Protivin many years. After Clarence's death July 3, 1989, Pauline moved to Protivin.
She was involved with church activities. Pauline liked to garden and play cards, as well as cook. She shared her musical talents at area nursing homes. She was a lifelong member of the Catholic Workman.
Survivors included two brothers, John Shindelar of Spillville and Alois Shindelar of rural Fort Atkinson; and many nieces and nephews.
Pauline Vsetecka was preceded in death by her husband; two sisters, Anna Wagner and Agnes Frana; and a brother, V.J. Shindelar.
