Arthur Gregory Jarosh

Arthur Jarosh, 87, of Spillville, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999, at the Aase Haugen Home in Decorah after a short illness.

A funeral mass was held Tuesday, Nov. 16, at 11 a.m., at the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville, with the Rev. Donald Hawes officiating.

Doris Thompson was the organist. Dan Suhacek was the soloist.

Casket bearers were Sarah Abbas, Howard Taylor, Michael Jarosh, Daryl Drilling, Teresa Abbas and Robert Wagner.

Interment was at the St. Wenceslaus Cemetery. The Balik Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Arthur Gregory Jarosh was born May 30, 1912, in Spillville, to Frank and Mary (Prazak) Jarosh. He attended school in the Spillville area.

On July 28, 1936, he married Celia Kubik at the Assumption Catholic Church in Little Turkey. To this union five children were born: Wayne, Patricia, Kenneth, Dean and Daniel.

Arthur farmed north of Spillville for a short time, moving to the park in Spillville for one year and then moving to his farm south of Spillville.

He had resided at the Aase Haugen Home since October.

Survivors include his wife, Celia of Spillville; one daughter, Patricia Jarosh of Los Angeles, Calif. and four sons, Wayne and Barbara Jarosh
of Nevada City, Calif., Kenneth and Colleen Jarosh of Janesville, Dean and Sharon Bookwalter Jarosh of Silver City, N.M., and Daniel Jarosh of
Poulan, Ga.

Also surviving are grandchildren Teresa, Tracie, Tashia, Valerie, Bonnie, Michael, Rebecca, Kaleb, Willow, Elijah, Lenka and Molly; great grandchildren Shaun, Sarah, Sydney, Zoe and Nico; and three sisters, Adeline Broihier of Sumner, and Velma Drilling and Frances Moudry of Decorah.

Arthur Jarosh was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Joe, Frank, William and Robert; and two sisters, Bessie Fisher and Christina Taylor.
