Marjorie G. (Hunt) Bucher, 81, of Atlantic, died Sunday, Nov. 8, 1998, at New Haven Nursing Home in Odessa, Mo.

A funeral mass was held Thursday, Nov. 12, at 10 a.m., at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Atlantic, with the Rev. Msgr. Lawrence Beeson as celebrant and the Deacon Fred Cornwell assisting.

Linda Fief was the organist. Musical selections by the choir were "Hymn of Promise" and "Panis Angelicus."

Casket bearers were Harry Long, Del Neary, Don Glynn, Gail Casey, Bob Turner and Jason Long. Honorary bearers were Craig Hunt, David Hunt and Joseph Hunt.

Jay Long and Betty Jensen were in charge of flowers.

Interment was at the Atlantic Catholic Cemetery in Atlantic. The Roland Funeral Service of Atlantic handled arrangements.

Marjorie, the daughter of Russell Charles and Bessie (Taylor) Hunt, was born Sept. 20, 1917, in Mason City.

She graduated from Decorah High School and was a graduate of Luther College, both in Decorah.

Her marriage to William James Bucher took place Dec. 21, 1940 in Stanley.

Marjorie taught first grade most of her teaching career in Atlantic Community Schools.

She was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband, William James Bucher of Atlantic; one son, William Keith and Betty Bucher of Dallas, Texas; one daughter, Pamela Sue and Donald Raffurty of Odessa, Mo.; six grandchildren, Mikaela Bucher, Amy Jo Turner, Benjamin Rold, Cristin Rold, and Joseph and Sarah Raffurty; two great-grandchildren, Cody Marple and Tyler Turner; one brother, Robert R. and Barbara Hunt of Decorah; three nephews; and one niece.

Marjorie Bucher was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, William James; and a brother, Richard L. Hunt.
