Caroline Leidahl

Caroline Leidahl, 94, died at the Oneota Riverview Care Facility, Decorah, Friday, Nov. 13, 1998.

Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 16. at 11 a.m., at Glenwood Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Barbara Wangsness officiating.

Alan Sensor was the organist. lona Crawford was the soloist, singing "Softly and Tenderly Jesus Is Calling." The congregation sang "What A Friend We Have in Jesus" and "Amazing Grace".

Grandchildren and their spouses served as casket bearers, Daniel and Carla Leidahl, Mark Evenrud, Michael Evenrud. Bruce Evenrud, Brian and Cathy Hovden. Scott and Patricia Hovden, Brian and Brenda Freilinger, Matt and Bonnie Knutson, Glenn and ________ Sexauer and Kevin and
Marsha Syverson.

Burial was at the Glenwood East Cemetery. The French & Balik Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Caroline "Minnie" Anna Wilhelmine (Pankow) Leidahl was born Sept. 17, 1904, in Chicago, the daughter of Herman and Louisa (Gipp) Pankow.

The family moved to the Ossian area when Minnie was a young child. Baptized in Chicago, she was confirmed at St. Peter Lutheran Church at Eldorado.

As a young women, she worked in a retail store until her marriage to Guy Leidahl Jan. 10, 1034 (sic), in Caledonia, Minn. They became the parents of three children, Helen, Wayne and Delores.

Minnie and Guy lived and farmed in the Decorah and Big Canoe area most of their married lives, until retiring and moving to Decorah in 1973. During all those years, Minnie enjoyed cooking, baking and gardening. In later years, she enjoyed playing cards. Minnie moved to Oneota Riverview Care Facility in August of 1995.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, Helena and Orville Harger of Des Moines. Wayne and Carol Leidahl of Waukon. and Delores and Alan Hovden of Ridgeway; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

Minnie Leidahl was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Guy, who died Aug. 10. 1988; sisters Lydia Vock, Margaret Rudd and Irene Pankow; brothers John, Carl and Ray Pankow; and one grandson. Dale Eric Leidahl.
