Victor Wiltgen

Victor J. Wiltgen, 84, longtime Ellensburg, Wash., resident and formerly of Ossian, died at his home Monday, Oct. 19, 1998.

Memorial services were held Friday, Oct. 30, at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Ellensburg.

Victor was born Nov. 12, 1913, in Ossian, one of 10 children born to Joseph and Carrie (Zweibohmer) Wiltgen.

Victor came to the Kattitas Valley in 1931. Prior to his marriage, he worked for the Clerf family for several years. He married Una Hayes in 1931. She died in 1975.

He worked for the Ellensburg Street Department for 21 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, a member of the Catholic Church, a 50-year member of the Moose Lodge and a member of the Eagles Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Esther of Walla-Walla, Wash.; his daughter, Mrs. Marvin Sterkel of Thorp, Wash.; step-sons Phillip Fitchen of Walla Walla and Gary Fitchen of Auburn; granddaughter Kendra Sturkel of Ellensburg, Wash.; grandson Marvin Sturkel Jr. of Ellensburg, Wash.; great-grandchildren Kody and Krystal Sterkel; and sisters Marie Bartel, Zephy Arch, Stella Wiltgen, Virginia McGee and Corrine Michlin, all of Rochester, Minn., and Viola O'Shaughnessy of Oelwein; and a brother, Vivien Wiltgen of Waukon.

Victor Wiltgen was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Gerald; three step-sons, John, Donald and Kenneth Weiss; two sisters; and a brother.
